Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Saint John in the opening chapter of his Gospel tells us that through the Incarnation of Jesus we have been given the power to become children of God.  Mikayla’s modern day beatitude focuses on this, so it seemed fitting in these remaining days before Christmas to use her beatitude next.  And Andrew’s essay on mercy talks about being a peacemaker, fitting nicely with Mikayla’s beatitude.

Mikayla’s beatitude:  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.  This Beatitude basically tells us that whoever is kind, humble, and good hearted will be blessed.  They will be rewarded and very happy.  Whoever does good in the world will live with Jesus forever in heaven.

Mercy Essay

by Andrew

I can evangelize mercy by doing many things.  I can love my enemy.  I can make my enemies friends.  I can forgive people who have hurt me.  And I can model the actions of Jesus and the Saints.

I also can act better.  I can make sure I don’t disrespect God by not using his name in vain and going to Mass.  Also, I should pay attention and participate in Mass.

Please note that there is a change of date for Cinema for the Soul—it will be this Thursday, 15 December 2016 at 7pm, upstairs in the Olive parish hall.  Miss Morrison will be showing The Finest Hours about a daring rescue made by the Coast Guard in 1952.

The December reflection for the ‘Five Minutes With Francis’ page on our school website has been posted.  As an Advent reflection the article talks about where true power is to be found.

For those who were not at assembly on Monday to see the Aztec dancers, a tradition here at SHA for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, I tweeted a 30 second video of the dancers as well as a few pictures - @naditaAnne.  Mrs. Hector will also post a photo on Instagram.  There are links to both of these sites at the bottom of the school’s homepage.

   Thank you.  Mrs. Alhadef
