Faith Reflection: Mercy—Love in action
At the end of his trip to Sweden last week, Pope Francis said that new situations require new energy, and to that end he then offered a list of beatitudes for modern times. I’ll share the first one today, along with a 7th grade essay that compliments the Pope’s thought, and then continue with the other beatitudes in the weeks to come.
Blessed are those who remain faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them by others and forgive them from their heart—Pope Francis.
Mercy Essay
by Pablo Palacios
I can evangelize mercy by showing forgiveness to others. If someone does something to me that I am not comfortable with and they apologize, I can easily forgive them because they now see how I feel. Next time they do something they know that they shouldn’t do that to me.
Pablo’s essay was accompanied by a neat little line drawing of a person offering forgiveness to another. I can’t show it here, but I will Tweet it - @naditaAnne - when I post the parent letter.
