Parent Letter Faith Reflection

Find the good. It’s all around you. Find it, showcase it and you’ll start believing in it.—Jesse Owens

Some days it’s hard to find the good while on other days the good is right there in front of you. Earlier this week as I was looking for something I can across this essay written by Mikayla D. when she was in 7th grade—she is now a Junior at Aquinas High School. Her talents are clearly on display as she does a wonderful job of explaining the virtue of creativity and putting our talents to use that I had to run it again. Thank you Mikayla.

The Virtue of Creativity

by Mikayla

Creativity is the ability to make new things or think of new ideas. Creativity is not ordinary, but unique.  It is the power of imagination and wisdom. This virtue brings excitement, joy, hope, and new possibilities.  You are able to discover your talents and see things in new ways. Creative thinking shows intelligence, courage and knowledge.

Everyone has the ability to be creative. Everyone can think outside the box, but to do this it will take trust.  It will mean leaving your fears behind, and opening your mind to new ideas. Creativity gives you a chance to change the world and even make it a better place. Sometimes you are being creative, but not realizing it; for example, you are being creative when you daydream, do something in a unique way, find ways to solve things, and use your imagination. Be creative, be open to inspiration, and be happy with yourself.
