During his senior year, he developed a passion for education while working as a peer mentor, guiding freshmen through their first year of college.

In 2019, Mr. Salazar earned his Master's in Secondary Education from Mount Saint Mary's University and now is working on a Doctorate at Saint Peter's University. He is a devoted Catholic and is committed to being a lifelong learner.

Mr. Salazar has been involved in Catholic education for most of his life. He began his teaching career at Our Lady of Guadalupe Rose-Hills in 2013. After two years in middle school, he transitioned to teaching at Sacred Heart High School. Over the course of seven years at Sacred Heart, he has taught multiple subjects, including Geography, Honors Geography, World History, U.S. History, Government/Economics, and English. In the 2023-24 school year, Joseph joined the prestigious Onward Leaders Program, a leadership development initiative aimed at building leadership skills and learning from the best in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was mentored by Ashley Giron at Saint Jane Frances School in North Hollywood, where she helped the school become the fastest-growing school in the Archdiocese. Joseph was honored to be mentored by Ashley for a year and is excited to apply everything he learned as a co-principal to Sacred Heart Academy.

He is the middle sibling of two wonderful sisters, the son of Gloria and Sebastian Salazar, and a proud father to Aurelius James Salazar.
