After rereading the essay for this week I realized one reason why I recently decided to get a Twitter account—I had Janina’s essay in the back of my mind. Her reasons for using social media are what I had in mind, along with using it to help spread the word about our great school, and I’m glad she helped plant the social media seed in my me. You can follow me on Twitter at @naditaAnne.
Janina’s essay is also timely because she talks about being persistent which was the Gospel story from this past Sunday. The widow in Luke 18:1-8 persisted against the unjust judge until she was successful. Janina encourages us to be persistent, reminding us God has called all of us to preach the Gospel in some way and we shouldn’t give up.
Spread the Word!
by Janina
Through our faith we are called to spread the word of God everyday. As explained in Mark 16:15, “And he said the them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,’” God wants us to spread his word. Three ways to do that is by being a good example of how it is to be a follower of Christ, tell everyone around you and be persistent, and through social media.
The first way to spread the word of God is by being a good example of how it is to be a follower of Christ. You can easily show people about being a follower of Christ by being nice on the playground, showing mercy to a person who did you wrong, or even showing respect to a teacher by listening to them. By seeing the kind things you do, people will want to follow your example, thereby spreading the word of God.
Secondly, you can spread the word by telling everyone and being persistent. When you want to spread important information you don’t just tell one person, you tell everyone and you are persistent. You do the same thing when spreading the word of God. In doing that not just a small group will know, everyone will!
Lastly, you can spread the word by social media. Social media apps and websites can be used by creating little inspirational sayings for the day. Also you can post a daily Bible verse or prayer. By doing both of these ways, or just one, you are spreading the word of God.
In the end there are many ways to spread the word of God. You can begin by being a good example of a follower of Christ, and telling everyone and being persistent. And lastly, by social media.
In a couple weeks there will be a free concert in the Olive Ave. parish hall. Please put this on your calendar and plan on joining everyone on Sunday, 6 November 2016 at 2p. Hotdogs and lemonade will follow the concert.
There are also a couple more weeks left for the 40 Days for Life vigil. Join others in praying for life between the hours of 6am and 6pm by Planned Parenthood on Commercenter West in San Bernardino.
Next Thursday, 27 October, is Cinema for the soul. Miss Morrison will be showing "Drop Box," a true story about a man who takes in abandoned babies, many of whom are disabled. The filmmaker converted to Christianity while filming this man's story. Join us at 7p upstairs in the parish hall.
Thank you, Mrs. Alhadef
